 What quantity of folic acid do you need?

Before pregnancy it is advisable to meet your doctor for recommendations as he will tell you also to start taking all vitamins and folic acid for at least a month before pregnancy. He may suggest you take;
  • 400 micrograms of folic acid before pregnancy
  • 400 microgram for the first three months of pregnancy
  • 600 micrograms from fourth month of pregnancy till delivery
  • 500 microgram while breast feeding.
